We're an independent, non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) working in partnership with Cherokee Business Development to support new business start up, business expansion, and overall community development on the Qualla Boundary.

We offer training & technical assistance - Whether you are a seasoned business owner who needs some coaching and refresher business workshops, or a budding entrepreneur who needs business basics - we have the classes and workshops that will help you develop your business skills and move your business forward.

We offer loan capital - If you are expanding your business or starting a new business, we can work with you to determine the best method of financing your project.

The Sequoyah Fund's offices are in the Ginger Lynn Welch Complex in Cherokee.

We’re open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. You’ll complete a Customer Information Form (download PDF now), and meet briefly with staff to review your information. If you want help to start a new business, we’ll register you for the next orientation class. If you own a business and want to apply for a loan, a Business Development Specialist will explain Sequoyah Fund’s loan process.

Our customers include enrolled members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians who own or plan to start businesses on the Qualla Boundary or in the seven surrounding counties; individuals who’ve lived on the Qualla Boundary for at least a year who own or plan to start a business on the Boundary; and individuals who own existing businesses in the Cherokee Central Business District and need funding to renovate the building facade.
